IN BRIEF : Marshall Rounds Out 49ers Staff

SANTA CLARA —
New San Francisco 49ers head coach George Seifert completed his staff on Monday by hiring John Marshall to handle linebackers. Marshall, who coached the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive line the last three years, replaced Bill McPherson, who was named defensive coordinator last week. Marshall was the Atlanta Falcons’ defensive coordinator from 1983 to 1985 and was special teams coach and then linebacker coach with the Green Bay Packers from 1980 to 1982.
