Wagner Beats Romeo in Bowling Final
Lisa Wagner, of Palmetto, Fla., the 1988 woman bowler of the year, defeated top-seeded Robin Romeo of Van Nuys, 266-182, Wednesday night to win the $35,000 Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour Lady LaMode Open at Fullerton.
Wagner won her 22nd career title along with the $7,000 first prize. She advanced to the championship match by first defeating Rene Fleming of Oklahoma City, 219-214.
Romeo, who won last week’s tournament at Canoga Park, earned $3,500 for second place.
Betty Morris of Stockton started the championship round with a 247-226 victory over Cheryl Daniels of Detroit. Morris then defeated Paula Drake of Broken Arrow, Okla., 247-203, before losing to Fleming, 225-202.
Fleming won $2,000 for third place. Morris earned $1,750 for fourth, Drake $1,500 for fifth and Daniels $1,400 for sixth.
LPBT’s next stop is the $30,000 San Diego tournament, which begins Saturday at Kearny Mesa Bowl in San Diego.
