El Camino Will Battle Pasadena in Tournament
The South Coast Conference basketball tournament starts tonight at El Camino at 7 when Cerritos (24-4, 5-3), the SCC’s second-place team, faces Long Beach (18-12, 5-3). The Falcons were upset, 87-84, by third-place Long Beach in the SCC finale Saturday.
At 9 p.m. the league champion El Camino Warriors (21-7, 6-2) will play the winner of Thursday’s Pasadena-Mt. San Antonio game. Mt. SAC is the league’s last-place team and Pasadena (16-18, 4-4), which has lost twice to El Camino, is in fourth. The Warriors finished the regular season with a 91-75 victory over Long Beach, and Pasadena ended conference action with a 102-75 win over Mt. San Antonio.
El Camino’s two league losses were on the road against Long Beach and Cerritos. The Warriors were upset by the Vikings, 98-91, in January and lost to Cerritos, 64-63, at the buzzer Feb. 4.
Tonight’s winners will play for the tournament title at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
