Floyd Heard ran a 20.90-second 200-meter dash and Antonio McKay ran 47.0 in the 400 meters at Baton Rouge, La., in qualifying trials for the World Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held next month at Budapest, Hungary.
At Brook Park, Ohio, Roger Kingdom fought off the effects of the flu to run the 55-meter hurdles in 7.02 seconds, beating Arthur Blake by a half-stride, in the Knights of Columbus Invitational meet. Evelyn Ashford won the women’s 55-meter dash in 6.75 seconds.
