A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death and a man was injured during a fight early Sunday, authorities said.
Agustine Quinones Rivera, 21, was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido at about 1 a.m., where he was in stable condition. The teen who was killed had come to his friend’s aid during the fight, sheriff’s deputies said.
The fight broke out at a party in the carpenters union hall at 353 Broadway, then spilled into the street and ended a block away with the fatal stabbing of the teen. Sheriff’s deputies said the boy was dead at the scene.
A 17-year-old boy was later arrested in the 600 block of Cocapah Road in Vista, deputies said.
