CS Long Beach to Face Nevada Las Vegas

Cal State Long Beach’s men’s basketball team, which has a four-game winning streak, plays the University of Nevada Las Vegas in a Big West Conference game at 7:30 tonight in the Thomas and Mack Center at Las Vegas.

Long Beach is coming off a 66-52 victory over New Mexico State Saturday night, which moved the 49ers above .500 (12-11) for the first time this season. They also moved into a second-place tie with New Mexico State with a 9-5 record.

In their victory over the Aggies, the 49ers were led by Tyrone Mitchell, who had 16 points, four assists and eight rebounds and center John Hatten, who also had 16 points.

Long Beach has allowed an average of 51.5 points during its winning streak, the 49ers’ longest of the season.

Las Vegas, ranked 18th, is 18-6 overall and 11-2 in conference play and is coming off of a 62-60 victory over Temple Sunday. Greg Anthony and Anderson Hunt scored 17 points each and Stacey Augmon had 16 to lead the Rebels, who have a 2 1/2-game lead over the 49ers in the Big West.
