Giuliani Readies for Possible Mayor Race
Former U.S. Atty. Rudolph W. Giuliani registered a political committee Thursday with the city Board of Elections, clearing the way for fund raising for a possible run for mayor.
Dennison Young Jr., an aide, announced the filing, which he said does not commit Giuliani to running for the office.
Polls have indicated that Giuliani, a Republican, has a chance of defeating the two leading Democratic candidates, Mayor Edward I. Koch and Manhattan Borough President David Dinkins. The only Republican who has announced his candidacy is Ronald Lauder, former U.S. ambassador to Austria.
