Local News in Brief : Anti-Abortion Group Marches in Van Nuys
Carrying signs that read “Forget the Whales, Save the Babies,” about 1,000 anti-abortion activists rallied Saturday morning at Woodley Avenue Park before embarking on a 20-mile walk-a-thon through Van Nuys.
The march was sponsored by the Sanctity of Human Life Ministry, a Burbank-based Christian organization, spokeswoman Monica Darga said.
The group hopes to raise $100,000 for crisis pregnancy centers, maternity homes for unwed mothers, post-abortion education and counseling groups, Darga said.
