Youth, 17, Is Killed in Motorcycle Crash
A teen-age motorcyclist was killed Sunday morning in Scripps Ranch near the end of Pomerado Road, authorities said.
Dead is Thomas Henry Hamilton, 17, who lived in the 3000 block of Melbourne Drive, San Diego, a coroner’s spokesman said.
The accident occurred about 7:15 a.m. as Hamilton was traveling north on Pomerado at a high speed, San Diego police said. He lost control near Semillon Boulevard, where he attempted a left turn. Authorities speculated that Hamilton, who was wearing a helmet, may not have realized until too late that Pomerado ends just past the intersection.
The teen-ager was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead at 8:02 a.m.
