For fans of the urban/action genre, there are few greater charges than watching Bruce Willis trouncing terrorists in thrill-a-minute “Die Hard”--the top-ranked rental on the Billboard chart. It just might be No. 1 for a few more weeks. But second-ranked “The Dead Pool,” another fast-paced urban/action flick, is gaining. Newcomer “Elvira Mistress of the Dark,” a lusty horror spoof, is a surprisingly strong No. 13. Diane Keaton’s star power is propelling “The Good Mother,” which is up to No. 10 in just two weeks.

* As the sequels pile up, the “Poltergeist” series gets less scary. The crowds have steadily dwindled at the box office too. This one took in $13 million--respectable but not as good as its predecessors. Renters, though, love this series. “III” debuted at No. 12.
