The Boston Globe reported that the National Football League is considering forming a spring football league with teams in the United States and Europe.
The plan reportedly has the support of NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle. The league’s Long Range Planning Committee will recommend the idea to team owners at the league meetings in Palm Springs, on March 25.
The league would have 12 teams with as many as four based in Europe. Other teams would be based in U.S. cities such as Memphis, Jacksonville, Baltimore, Oakland and St. Louis.
