In other Orange Empire Conference play:

Golden West 3, Fullerton 2--Josh Bammer had a bases-loaded single with one out in the ninth to drive in the game-winning run at Golden West. Fullerton’s Sal Capraro had a two-run double to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth. Capraro and Rob Bailey went two for three for Fullerton (7-8, 2-2). Frank Herman went two for three for Golden West (11-5, 3-1).

Orange Coast 12, Riverside 4--Scott Talanoa’s three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth was the biggest blow for OCC (12-5-1, 2-3), which had 16 hits to Riverside City’s 4. Talanoa was three for four with three RBIs and two runs scored. Tommy Irwin (1-1) went seven innings, giving up three hits and seven walks but striking out nine for the victory.

In Orange Empire softball:

Cypress 1, Orange Coast 0--Kerry Callahan had a two-out, bases-loaded single in the seventh for Cypress (16-3, 2-0). OCC is 7-6, 1-2.

Saddleback 1, Rancho Santiago 0 (14 innings)--Denise Kuhns (7-4) pitched a five hitter, striking out nine, for the victory at Saddleback. The Gauchos (12-7, 1-1) scored the winning run after Stacy Martnick reached first base on an error to lead off the 14th. One out later, Martnick scored on Kim Larkins’ squeeze bunt. Rancho Santiago is 9-6, 1-1.
