Don Rickles drops in as a special guest star on tonight’s “Newhart” show (8 p.m. on CBS-TV) as a late-night talk show host on the TV station where Bob Newhart hosts “Vermont Today.” On the show, Rickles insults everything about Newhart, from his suit to his sex life. Rickles said that he and real-life friend Newhart had been talking for some time about having Rickles make a guest appearance on “Newhart” but that it took a long time for them to come up with the concept because they wanted to do something special.
