Bray to Fight Irish National Champion
Heavyweight boxer John Bray of Van Nuys will face Irish national champion Sean O’Reagan at Caesars Atlantic City tonight as part of the U.S.-Ireland amateur dual meet.
Bray, 18, was selected for the U. S. team as a result of his performance earlier this month at a training camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
This is the second international competition for Bray, a 1988 graduate of Van Nuys High. Last year he split two bouts on a Scandinavian tour.
The 10-bout dual meet will be televised by cable station TBS at 3:05 p.m. Saturday.
Jamal Swinton of Montclair Prep has signed a letter of intent to play football next season at Colgate.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound defensive back intercepted three passes and gained 348 yards as a running back last fall.
