Tony Woods, former University of Pittsburgh linebacker, testified that he felt threatened by Norby Walters because of comments the sports agent made after Woods fired him.
A tape recording of a conversation between the two was played at the agent’s federal court trial, and Walters was heard saying he didn’t want “to be a rat” and cause problems over being replaced by another agent.
In other testimony, Texas football players Everett Gay and Edwin Simmons told of a threat by Bloom to have thugs break Gay’s legs because he was talking about terminating his contract with the sports agents. Gay now plays for the Dallas Cowboys.
Walters, 58, and co-defendant Lloyd Bloom, 29, are charged with racketeering, fraud and extortion.
