In other City Western League games:

University City 8, Kearny 5--Tom Braley went two for four, including a three-run homer in the top of the sixth, to lead University City (3-9, 1-1). Troy Lane (1-0) pitched the final three innings for the victory. Rob Fragoso was two for three with a double for Kearny (2-10, 0-2). Clairemont 4, USDHS 3--Clairemont’s Pat McCauley hit a long single over the Dons’ drawn-in outfield with no outs in the bottom of the eighth to score Oscar Sanchez, who had walked to start the inning and advanced to third on a ground-rule double to left by Jesus Peraza. Jeff Langford went the distance and hit a two-run home run in the second for Clairemont. USDHS is 9-3, 1-1.

City Eastern League

Patrick Henry 6, Point Loma 2--Brian Simmons hit a three-run home run to cap a four-run sixth for host Patrick Henry (9-6, 2-0). Simmons also had a double, and Shannon Webb went two for four. Chris Regan (3-1) pitched a five-hitter. Point Loma is 4-10, 0-2.

Morse 10, Serra 3--Chris Nelson pitched a four-hitter, struck out five and allowed only one earned run for host Morse (7-6, 1-1). The Tigers’ Mike Romero was two for two with a double and three RBIs. Serra is 5-8, 0-2.

City Central League

Crawford 10, St. Augustine 7--With two outs and no one on in the top of the seventh inning, Crawford (10-3, 2-0) scored four runs to knock off St. Augustine at Golden Hills. St. Augustine (6-7, 1-1) had scored three runs after two outs in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead, 7-6.

Hoover 8, Christian 3--Tyrone Upton hit two home runs and had four RBIs for Hoover (6-6-1, 1-1). The Cardinals’ Albert Canedo was three for three with a homer and two RBIs and was the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit in 4 2/3 innings. Canedo is 3-0. Christian fell to 3-6, 1-1.

Lincoln 11, San Diego 9--Corey Lewis went two for four with a two-run homer and singled in the game-winning run for visiting Lincoln. Dacus Hale (1-0) was the winner, entering in the fourth in relief of starter James Davis. Lincoln is 3-7, 1-1. San Diego dropped to 5-5-1, 0-2.

Grossmont 3-A League

Granite Hills 3, Monte Vista 2--Trailing, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth, the Eagles’ Brian Giles scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly to deep right by Jeff Waymire. Shane Spencer, who had singled earlier and moved to third on Waymire’s fly ball, scored on a single to center by Robby Christian. Sophomore Ryan O’Coyne (4-1) did not allow an earned run in six innings. Vern Mullis (4-1) pitched a five-hitter for Monte Vista (7-3-2, 0-1). Granite Hills improved to 10-3, 1-0.

El Capitan 5, Mt. Miguel 0--Jim Marchesi (1-3), who earlier in the year lost a two-hitter to Poway, pitched a four-hitter in shutting out Mt. Miguel (1-7, 0-1) in Lakeside. El Capitan is 8-4, 1-0. Dan Freeman led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. Jeremy McGarity hit his third home run of the season and second in two games.

Grossmont 2-A League

Valhalla 9, Santana 2--Designated hitter Ottavio Carrillo went three for four and scored three runs for visiting Valhalla (7-6-1, 1-1). John Lynn was two for three with two doubles and two RBIs for Valhalla. Jason Downden (1-0) was the winner. Santana is 6-4-1, 0-2.

Nonleague

Oceanside 10, Bingham (Utah) 4--Sibian Fuimaono hit two home runs, giving him five for the season, as Oceanside improved to 8-4. Fuimaono was three for four with six RBIs. Ben Pai (3-1) had a no-hitter broken up by the leadoff hitter in the seventh inning and finished with a three-hitter.

Torrey Pines 5, Chula Vista 3--Brothers Mike and Brian Hochleutner combined for a six-hitter to lead Torrey Pines (6-5-1) at home. Mike, a senior, pitched five innings and was the winner. His record is 1-2. Brian, a sophomore, threw the final three innings for his first save. He is 4-0. Paul Christie hit a two-run homer in the second inning.

Helix 13, El Cajon 5--Jason Ledford and Spike Mitchell hit home runs to lead host Helix. Both went three for four with four RBIs. Gary Maler (3-0) was the winner. Helix is 9-3.

Orange Glen 3, San Pasqual 1--Shannon Vinje hit a two-run home run in the third for Orange Glen (7-6) at home. Jim Roby (3-1) was the winner. Eric Marsh had his second consecutive two-hit day for San Pasqual (9-3). Mike Escarcega was one for three to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
