Two people were killed and another critically wounded Sunday night in an apparent gang-related drive-by shooting at a Compton park, authorities said.

A man in his late 20s and a 19-year-old woman were killed when the occupant of a passing car opened fire with a semiautomatic weapon as the couple stood in Kelly Park in the southeast part of the city, Compton Police Lt. William Wallace said. Another man was in critical condition at Martin Luther King Jr. General Hospital, Wallace said.

Names of the victims were not released.

Earlier, a 15-year-old Los Angeles boy standing in front of an Inglewood apartment building was killed in another apparently gang-related shooting.

The boy, whose name was withheld, died instantly, police said. There were no suspects.

Meanwhile, authorities announced that more than 100 people, including 71 gang members, were arrested in a South Los Angeles gang crackdown that began Saturday evening and ended shortly before dawn Sunday.

A task force of more than 200 officers participated in the campaign, dubbed Operation Hammer, which swept the gang-infested area.

There were 20 arrests made on felony narcotics charges and two for misdemeanor drug offenses, said Los Angeles Police Officer Larry Judd. Twenty-seven adults and six juveniles were arrested on felony charges while 44 adults and three juveniles were booked on misdemeanors. Another 11 adults were picked up for existing felony warrants, Judd said.
