Suicide Is Suspected in Highway Death
An Escondido teen-ager apparently committed suicide Sunday by running into the path of a motor home on Interstate 8, authorities said.
Jason Paul McSwain, 18, ran in front of the motor home, which was heading east on Interstate 8 near Broadway in El Cajon, shortly after 3 p.m., said a coroner’s spokesman.
McSwain was taken to AMI Valley Medical Center in El Cajon, where he was pronounced dead of multiple injuries, the spokesman said. McSwain lived on 12th Avenue in Escondido and was a student at Valley High School, according to the coroner’s office.
An El Cajon police spokesman said officers found out that McSwain had intended to commit suicide. The identity of the driver of the motor home was not released.
