IN BRIEF : Surgery for Buddy Bell’s Left Knee
Designated hitter Buddy Bell of the Texas Rangers will undergo arthroscopic surgery Wednesday morning at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati for a torn cartilage in his left knee.
Dr. Warren G. Harding III, the team physician of the Cincinnati Reds, will perform the surgery on Bell, who singled for his 2,500th major league hit last week.
The 37-year-old Bell, who was obtained by the Rangers as a free agent in the off-season, has undergone seven previous knee operations. Harding operated on Bell’s knees three times last year, twice on the right knee and once on the left.
It is uncertain whether Bell will return to the Rangers this year.
