CBS Decides to Show Kareem’s Finale
CBS, which last week announced it would televise an Atlanta Hawks-Detroit Pistons game instead of the Lakers and Seattle SuperSonics in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s final regular-season game, decided Monday to televise the Laker game after all, said Bob Steiner, a Forum spokesman.
The game Sunday in the Forum will start at 12:30 p.m.
Prime Ticket first considered televising the game on a delayed basis, then announced Monday morning that the start time for the game would be moved to 3:30 p.m. to permit a live telecast. But the CBS announcement changed that.
Abdul-Jabbar will be honored before the game, but CBS probably won’t be able to show the ceremony live because coverage of the Greater Greensboro Open golf tournament figures to run until just before game time. Prime Ticket had planned to show the ceremony live as part of a half-hour pregame show.
