Loyola Marymount freshman outfielder Joe Ciccarella was 12 for 23 last week, including 10 for 16 in a four-game sweep of St. Mary’s, to lift his average to .371. He hit his first collegiate home run and had two doubles, earning West Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.

Mary Star’s baseball team extended its winning streak to nine games Tuesday with an 8-2 victory over Cantwell as pitcher George Pisano threw a four-hitter and collected two hits and an RBI. The Stars, who improved to 12-5 overall and 4-0 in the Santa Fe League, have outscored league opponents, 36-2.

South Torrance third baseman Danny Jenkins leads the South Bay with seven triples after hitting three in two Ocean League games last week.
