The enforcement staff of the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. maintains that Kentucky assistant basketball coach Dwayne Casey sent $1,000 to the father of a recruit last year, Casey’s attorney said.
“The enforcement staff has not changed its position,” attorney Joe Bill Campbell said during a mid-afternoon break in the NCAA Committee on Infractions hearing. Casey has denied sending the money to Claud Mills, father of Chris Mills of L.A. Fairfax High School. Mills is a freshman at Kentucky.
Also, three charges were dropped, including one that alleged L.A. Fairfax recruit Sean Higgins, now attending Michigan, was offered money and was improperly recruited by Casey.
