Orange County All-Star Basketball Games : Campbell Heads List of North Selections

Forward Scott Campbell, the county’s leading scorer at La Quinta High School, heads the list of selections for the North boys’ team that will participate in the 24th Orange County All-Star basketball game June 25 in UC Irvine’s Bren Center.

Campbell averaged 29 points per game and was also the county’s top three-point shooter, hitting 62% of his attempts. He scored 53 points against Bolsa Grande, the fourth-highest single-game output in county history.

Pat Quinn, who led Saddleback into the Southern Section 5-AA division championship game with 22 straight victories, will coach the team.

Kristen McDonald, who led Valencia High School to the Southern Section 4-AA division title, heads the list of selections for the South team that will participate in the 12th Orange County girls’ all-star basketball game June 25 at the Bren Center.

McDonald averaged 19.3 points and 9.3 rebounds and scored a career-high 40 points against Anaheim. Other top players named to the team include Kristen Bevis of El Toro, the most valuable player in the South Coast League, and Keri Erkenbrack, who led Canyon to the runner-up spot in the 4-AA division.

Stan DeMaggio of Capistrano Valley, whose teams have won 179 games in 12 years, will coach the team.
