Boy Accidentally Slain While Playing With Gun
A 12-year-old Lemon Grove boy was killed Thursday afternoon when the gun he and two friends were using “to play gunfighter” discharged accidentally, shooting him in the head, authorities said.
Charleton Michael Blackmon was dead at the scene.
He lived with his parents, Charles and Barbara Blackmon, in the 2000 block of Ensenada Street and was a student at Monterey Heights Elementary School in Lemon Grove.
Paramedics from Hartson Ambulance Services answered a 911 call placed by one of the victim’s friends at 2:30 p.m., according to Coroner’s Deputy Robert Engel.
