STEINBECK TICKY-TACKS

I am an instructor at Cal Poly State University Extended Education, and have been teaching works of John Steinbeck for a number of years. In your article “ ‘The Grapes of Wrath Turns 50’ ” (Book Review, April 9) there are two errors.

First, as per the latest issue of the “Steinbeck Quarterly,” Tetsumaro Hayashi is the editor-in-chief of that publication. Robert DeMott is a member of the editorial board.

Second, you give the impression that “Conversations With John Steinbeck” is confined to conversations about “The Grapes of Wrath.” In actuality, of the 26 reprinted articles in the book, only three deal with “The Grapes of Wrath.” Several take place before its publication and the remainder span the time after that until his death in 1968.
