SOUTHLAND : Suspect Severs Finger in Remorse
A man suspected of attempted rape was arrested when he set up a meeting with the victim to give her a small box containing a finger he had cut off to show his remorse, authorities said today.
Officers arrested Yoon No Yoon, 31, of Los Angeles and booked him at the Parker Center jail on suspicion of attempted rape. The finger was booked at the county coroner’s office as evidence. The victim, a 23-year-old woman who met the man in a college English class, reported the attempted rape to police April 19. She contacted police again Monday night to report that the suspect had called her to say he was sorry and wanted to meet her at a fast-food restaurant and give her a gift.
