Roundup : Lindstrom’s Arm Carries CSUN to Title

Freshman Heather Lindstrom (22-5) notched two wins and a save in leading Cal State Northridge to three victories and the Cal State Sacramento Invitational championship Saturday.

The Lady Matadors (60-17) defeated Humboldt, 6-4; Sacramento, 1-0; and Bakersfield, 3-2.

Lindstrom got the final out to preserve Debbie Dickmann’s win against Humboldt and pitched complete games in the next two games.

In high school softball games:

Hart 3, Righetti 1--Hart avenged its only loss of the season by scoring three runs in the 10th inning of the championship game of the Thousand Oaks tournament.

Junior right-hander Kym Weil (20-1) threw a two-hitter for Hart (25-1), which lost, 1-0, to Righetti on March 21. In a 3-0 semifinal win over Thousand Oaks earlier in the day, Weil pitched a three-hitter.

Thousand Oaks 2, Buena 0--Amy Chellevold singled in a run and scored in the fifth and Alicia Zinner held the Bulldogs to three hits in the third-place game.

BASEBALL

Cal Lutheran 8-3, Azusa Pacific 0-4--Tim Lewis and Leonard Matsumoto hit consecutive solo home runs in the third inning and Matsumoto hit a two-run shot in the fifth inning in the first game of the Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader at Cal Lutheran.

Mike Clark (7-2) scattered six hits for the shutout.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Golden State Athletic Conference District III championships--Top-seeded Carolyn Clayton of Westmont defeated Cal Lutheran’s Joey Dooley, 6-4, 6-4, in the singles final at Westmont.

The Regals finished third in the team standings with nine points, behind Westmont (13 points) and Point Loma (12).

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

St. Francis d. Alemany, 10-15, 15-6, 15-13, 15-1--St.Francis won a Del Rey League third-place tiebreaker at Alemany to advance to the Southern Section 4-A Division playoffs. Matt Garland had 24 kills for Alemany (5-12, 3-6).
