Clairemont 10, Kearny 1--Oscar Sanchez was two for three with a home run, a double and four RBIs for the Chieftains (13-12, 9-6). Rafael Miramontes (7-4) was the winner. Kearny finished 4-22, 2-13.

University City 6, La Jolla 0--Ray Hooper (2-3) pitched a two-hitter for University City (8-17, 6-9). La Jolla finished 5-20, 2-13.

City Central League

Crawford 8, Christian 1--No. 4 Crawford (22-4, 14-1) set a section single-season record by scoring 252 runs, topping the 250 scored by Granite Hills in 1987. Todd Davis’ grand slam in the fourth enabled the Colts to tie the record. One inning later, Jude Trapp (two for three, two RBIs) drove in a run to break it. Salvador Vidrios (3-0) and Jeff Thrift combined for a three-hitter. Christian finished 6-16, 4-11.

Hoover 5, San Diego 1--Hoover (15-10, 10-5) finished tied for second with St. Augustine (which defeated Lincoln Tuesday) and will play a playoff game with the Saints Friday to determine the league’s No. 2 playoff team.

City Eastern League

Mira Mesa 7, Point Loma 1-- Mike Bovee went two for four with two RBIs, and Ricky Hastey had five stolen bases as No. 7 Mira Mesa (21-4, 13-2) clinched the league title. Point Loma is 7-20, 3-12.

Madison 8, Serra 5--Devin Fitzmaurice won his sixth game for Madison (20-6, 12-3), which took second in the league. Serra finished 6-19, 2-13.

Morse 11, Patrick Henry 6--Mike Romero was three for four with two triples, a double and five RBIs for Morse (12-14, 6-9). Henry is 16-12, 9-6.

Grossmont 3-A League

Helix 4, Granite Hills 3--No. 3 Helix, the defending section 3-A champion, won its second consecutive league title. Winning pitcher Rob Ippolito (9-2) and Rich Haar each went two for three with an RBI for the Highlanders (22-5, 7-1). Granite Hills is 15-12, 3-5.

El Capitan 9, Monte Vista 8--Dan Freeman led off the bottom of the seventh with a home run as El Capitan (18-7-1, 6-2) clinched second. Jeremy McGarity and Robert Guerrero also homered for El Capitan. Monte Vista (16-9-2, 4-4) took third.

Grossmont 2-A League

Grossmont 7, Santana 4--Kent Smith went three for three with a home run and two RBIs, and Todd Cady hit a homer as Grossmont (16-8-1, 4-2) won the league title. Santana (15-9-1, 3-3) finished second.

El Cajon Valley 1, Valhalla 0--El Cajon Valley (6-18-1, 1-5) scored an unearned run in the sixth inning. Valhalla is 11-16-1, 3-3.
