“War and Remembrance” is indeed a monumental production, although it could probably have done a lot better in the ratings if it had been shortened to 20 hours and focused on the plight of the Jastrows and the war itself. As it was, after watching Pug and Pamela (his lover) and Rhoda and Hack (her lover) on the screen for the entire second hour on Sunday, May 7, who could blame viewers for switching over to “Witness” or “The Trial of the Incredible Hulk”? What a pity, since the miniseries was often powerful, John Gielgud was simply remarkable and Jane Seymour proved she is a beautiful actress who can really act.
