Arturo Barrios won the 78th running of the Bay to Breakers footrace through the streets of San Francisco Sunday with an unofficial time of 34 minutes 38.4 seconds.

Barrios, a Mexican native living in Boulder, Colo., finished the 7.5-mile race known for its costumed characters about 100 yards ahead of Ed Eyestone of Orem, Utah. Barrios, 26, has won the event the past three years.

Ingrid Kristiansen of Norway was the first female finisher with a time of 39:13.6.

Among the more than 100,000 runners--many forced to walk the route because of the size of the crowd--were two people dressed as Godzilla chasing the city’s famed Transamerica Pyramid; 13 ballerinas being pursued by Roman warriors; the Tooth Fairy adorned with her crown teeth, and an Elvis impersonator.
