Heavyweight world boxing champ Mike Tyson and actress Robin Givens dissolved their stormy 16-month marriage today with an amicable divorce, including a secret agreement on the division of their property.

Tyson, 22, alternatively stone-faced and smiling, appeared in Somerset County Superior Court for a brief hearing before Judge Graham Ross.

Givens, 24, a featured actress on ABC-TV’s situation comedy “Head of the Class,” did not appear for the hearing.

The couple had obtained a divorce in the Dominican Republic on Valentine’s Day in a proceeding attended only by Tyson, but that action was determined not to be binding in New Jersey, where the couple had their primary residence before the widely publicized breakup of their marriage.

Tyson, the 36-0 heavyweight who is training for a July 21 bout in Atlantic City against Carl (The Truth) Williams, did not speak to reporters.

In a television interview last September, with Tyson seated beside her, Givens said that life with Tyson was “torture . . . pure hell . . . worse than anything I can possibly imagine.” She accused her husband of possessing an “extremely volatile temper” and said she had grown “very much afraid,” believing he was a manic-depressive.
