Rick Hayes Named Century Baseball Coach
Rick Hayes, a former assistant at Cal State Long Beach and UC Irvine, has been named varsity baseball coach at Century High School in Santa Ana.
Hayes, 44, previously coached baseball at Westminster from 1976-82, leading Westminster to the Southern Section 4-A title in 1981.
Hayes also coached for two seasons at Arroyo High in El Monte before moving to Westminster. He currently teaches at Saddleback High School and coached the school’s sophomore basketball team this season.
Hayes was an assistant under John Gonsalves at Cal State Long Beach for four years and a part-time assistant at UC Irvine this year. He will teach English at Century.
