An elderly Riverside County woman and a male companion found dead Tuesday in East County apparently suffocated accidentally while in their recreational vehicle, authorities said.
Evelyn Bohmfalk, 78, of Hemet and a 71-year-old friend whose name was being withheld until his family can be notified apparently were asphyxiated by carbon monoxide inside their closed RV, coroner’s deputies said.
Bohmfalk and the man had been fishing at a pond on a friend’s property at 26040 Mesa Grande Road near Santa Ysabel, San Diego County sheriff’s deputies said.
The bodies were found at 11:45 a.m. by Arthur Alford, the owner of the property. The couple had arrived at the pond Thursday, and were last seen alive by Alford on Saturday, authorities said.
