Tustin : Construction Starts on Freeway Interchange

Share

Construction began Tuesday on the new Tustin Ranch Road interchange on the Santa Ana Freeway, a $12-million project long sought by city officials to provide better access to the freeway.

The interchange, scheduled for completion in 1991, will be the only access Tustin residents will have during two years of the massive, $1.2-billion freeway widening project, according to Caltrans officials.

The 15-acre interchange site was donated by the Irvine Co., which has new housing developments nearby. The firm also designed the interchange under Caltrans’ supervision.
