Italy Defeats Spain in Basketball, 97-76

ZAGREB, Yugoslavia —
Antonello Riva scored 33 points, including seven three-point shots, Wednesday to lead Italy to a 97-76 victory over Spain at the European Basketball Championships.
In other second-round matches, the Soviet Union trounced the Netherlands, 109-56; Greece beat France, 80-74, and Yugoslavia defeated Bulgaria, 98-78.
Guard Drazen Petrovic was 13 for 13 from the field in the first half and finished with 33 points to lead Yugoslavia.
