Glen Reyes, a four-time San Diego Section track champion from Orange Glen High, signed a professional baseball contract Tuesday night with the Houston Astros for an undisclosed amount. Reyes, drafted in the 13th round, will report to the Astros’ Rookie League club in Kissimmee, Fla.

Three other local players who were drafted in this month’s amateur draft will attend college. Crawford High third baseman Manny Gagliano, drafted in the 17th round by Milwaukee, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Oklahoma State after turning down a $20,000 offer from the Brewers.

“Three years of college should help a lot,” Gagliano said. “My goal now is to become a No. 1 draft choice when I get out of college.”

Miah Bradbury, who played at Mt. Carmel three years ago, turned down about $40,000 from the Philadelphia Phillies and will play his senior season at Loyola Marymount. Bradbury, a catcher, was taken by the Phillies in the sixth round.
