The New York Yankees released right-handed pitcher Richard Dotson and put left-hander Chuck Cary on the 21-day disabled list, making room on the roster for pitchers Eric Plunk and Greg Cadaret, acquired Wednesday in the trade that sent Rickey Henderson to the Oakland Athletics.
Dotson, 30, was 2-5 with a 5.57 earned-run average in nine starts this season. His career record in 10 major league seasons is 108-102, including a 14-14 record in two seasons with the Yankees. His ERA with the Yankees was 5.13.
