An effort to recall jailed South Lake Tahoe Mayor Terry Trupp has begun. City Clerk Angela Peterson said resident Rex Boyd has filed a notice to seek the recall of Trupp, who is being held without bail in Sacramento on charges of conspiracy and money-laundering in connection with an alleged cocaine ring. Peterson said Trupp has until next Thursday to respond to Boyd’s notice. If Trupp does not step down, Boyd then can file copies of his proposed petition with the clerk’s office. Peterson then has 10 days to review the petitions to make sure they comply with strict legal deadlines. Once they are approved, she says Boyd has 90 days to gather 2,303 signatures representing 25% of the 9,210 registered voters in South Lake Tahoe. If enough valid signatures are turned in, Peterson will then set a date for a recall election.
