Whittier : 2 Restaurants Praised for Hiring Disabled Workers
The Whittier Union High School District has recognized two local fast-food restaurants for hiring and training disabled students and adults, school officials announced.
At a luncheon and awards ceremony recently, officials of the district’s Career Assessment and Placement Center cited Carl’s Jr., on East Rosecrans Avenue in La Mirada, and Wienerschnitzel, on Leffingwell Road in Whittier, for teaching work skills to local disabled people, district spokeswoman Ann M. Garten said.
Workers at the Career Assessment and Placement Center, a model program in the district, counsel disabled people, show them how to adjust to a work environment, guide them into careers and place them in jobs, Garten said.
