The nation’s second-leading apprentice jockey, suspended six times this year, said that officials at Ak-Sar Ben in Omaha, Neb., have conspired to run him out of the state with a series of unwarranted suspensions.

State racing officials and stewards at the race track, however, deny that Garrett Gomez, 17, has been singled out for punishment.

Gomez, who has 106 victories in 610 starts, will appear before the Nebraska Racing Commission Wednesday in an attempt to overturn one of six suspensions he has received this year for alleged careless riding at Ak-Sar Ben and Fonner Park in Grand Island, Neb.

Gomez obtained court orders allowing him to ride much of the season, but the orders ended last week. He has sat out since.
