A sailor upset over a troubled marriage brandished a handgun and fired a shot Tuesday before surrendering to police six hours later at a Long Beach apartment complex, police said.
Perry Griffin, 24, who is stationed at Long Beach, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, Police Lt. Philip King said.
Police got a report of a man with a gun in the 300 block of Orange Avenue shortly before 1 a.m., King said.
Griffin was upset over marriage problems and had gone to the apartment complex to visit his wife, King said.
