THE SIDELINES : Stanford Hires Linebacker Coaches

PALO ALTO — Stanford football Coach Denny Green has hired two new assistant coaches.
Dave Tipton, who played for Stanford when it went to the 1971 Rose Bowl, will coach outside linebackers. Mike Tolleson, who most recently coached with the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL, will coach inside linebackers.
Former inside linebacker Coach Dick Mannini and former outside linebacker Coach Jack Gilmete were released.
