Abrush fire fanned by erratic winds charred 100 acres of Pico Canyon in Valencia Friday. Forty firefighters contained the blaze and kept it from damaging any structures, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said.

Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, spokesman Joe Silva said. One was stung by a bee, and the other suffered heat exhaustion.

The fire in the canyon west of the Golden State Freeway at Lyons Avenue was reported about 11:15 a.m.

Fire crews flying two helicopters dropped water on steep, inaccessible areas. Other firefighters used two bulldozers to cut firebreaks and bury minor outbreaks of fire. Seven engines were at the scene.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation, Silva said.
