R&B; Voices

Thoughts about Dennis Hunt’s July 2 article, “Where Are the Great R&B; Singers of Today?”:

Afro-Americans have always dealt with life through their appreciation for various forms of music. R&B;, jazz, the blues have helped us through the worst times.

We are some small distance away from those times, and our children are even further away.

Afro-American youths live in their own time. Their music reflects their interest. They still appreciate some of the “oldies,” but they want their own thing.

It’s kind of sad--but quite normal.
