Reception Slated for Departing College President
A Farewell reception for Edison O. Jackson, president of Compton Community College, will be held Wednesday in the student lounge.
Jackson is leaving Compton to become president in September of Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, N.Y. The college is part of City University of New York.
Educational and area civic leaders will participate in the farewell, which will begin with the reception at 6:30 p.m. and include a program at 8. Residents, college family and faculty may attend, according to Dean Warren A. Washington.
The college Board of Trustees has named Washington interim president while a search is conducted to find a permanent replacement for Jackson.
Public agencies and community organizations wishing to make presentations at the event may contact Washington at 637-2660.
