A thief stole 25 national and conference football championship and Orange Bowl rings from the home of former University of Oklahoma Coach Barry Switzer during the weekend, Norman police said today.

Lt. Leonard Judy said the police report indicated that the burglary occurred between 8 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 a.m. Sunday while Switzer was away from home.

“Everything was taken from an upstairs office and from a bedroom,” Judy said. “Nothing else was disturbed.”

There was no sign of forced entry, and Switzer did not notice anything was missing until 9 a.m. Sunday, Judy said.

In addition to the rings, the report indicated that Switzer lost a shotgun, five hunting knives, three watches, two cases of beer and “a couple of cases of Copenhagen” smokeless tobacco, Judy said.
