The Dallas Cowboys came to terms with holdout quarterback Steve Walsh Friday for a total package of $4.1 million over four years, Coach Jimmy Johnson said.

Walsh, who decided to pass up his senior year at the University of Miami to enter the National Football League’s supplemental draft, will join the Cowboys in Thousand Oaks today.

The Cowboys already have quarterback Troy Aikman of UCLA, the No. 1 overall pick in the regular draft, in camp, and published reports have indicated that Walsh might be traded.

“We’re not considering a trade for Steve at this time,” Johnson said. “We plan for him to be here and competing for the job.”

A substantial signing bonus was included in Walsh’s contract, but the amount was not disclosed. According to the contract, Walsh could be traded to any other NFL team in 1989. After 1989, he will give Johnson a list of four teams he doesn’t wish to be traded to.
