‘O.C. Healthier Than Rest of U.S.’

Re “O.C. Healthier Than Rest of U.S.” (July 20): Surely you jest! Perhaps in Newport Beach and Irvine the residents have fewer health problems and “only” 17.3% are overweight, but in the remainder of the county, the fast-food capital of the world, every day looks like a fat contest.

Where there are more fast-food places--in the “poorer” areas--the more obese people live, and so those areas (the majority) have people with more cholesterol. Perhaps UCI should go beyond the fringes of Irvine and Newport and see all the lard carried, from children to adults. The most sickening sight is a mother in one of the fast-food places feeding an infant a hamburger and french fries.
