More than half of San Franciscans support the city’s domestic partners law, which allows gay and other unmarried couples to register their relationships, according to a new poll. The law faces possible repeal on the November ballot. Of 600 registered voters surveyed July 28-30, 54% supported the ordinance, 36% were opposed and 10% were undecided. “The support is seen both in the gay community and the non-gay community,” said pollster Mark Baldassare. Among homosexuals, 92% favored the ordinance, 3% were opposed and 5% were undecided. Among heterosexuals, 49% supported it, 40% were opposed and 11% undecided. The poll, commissioned by the San Francisco Chronicle, found that 60% of men supported the measure while 49% of women did.
