Wes Gardner of the Boston Red Sox was arrested and charged with assaulting his wife in their Baltimore hotel room. Gardner, who is scheduled to start tonight against the Orioles, was taken into custody at 2:45 a.m. Friday, after his wife told police he had thrown her against a wall during an argument. Gardner offered no resistance. He was released on $2,500 bail, and his trial date was set for Sept. 12.
